Oklahoma Science Project
The Oklahoma Science Project (OSP) is an integrated professional development continuum designed to introduce secondary science teachers in Oklahoma public schools to novel instructional approaches that can be used to acquaint students with the nature of science and scientific inquiry. OSP teacher scholars participate in authentic research, construct classroom lessons, and receive professional development, support, and encouragement extending beyond the summer research experience. The OSP paradigm is one element of a research-based model for educational and community renewal based on the democratic education IDEALS : Inquiry, Discourse, Equity, Authenticity, Leadership, and Service.
New Program Format for OSP
This summer OSP has undergone a change in format. The SRI has merged with the NSF REESE program. The summer institute is now a two-week research experience with an accompanying three-day summer workshop supplemented by supporting professional development through the school year. For information on the REESE programs, click on the REESE Science Initiatives link on this page.
