University

The Office of the Vice Provost for School and Community Partnerships provides a focal point for interdisciplinary research, teaching and service designed to improve learning at all levels. Through action-oriented partnerships, the Office of the Vice Provost and K20 Center network locally and globally with colleagues in education, industry, and government seeking innovative, 21st century learning opportunities for all citizens.

K-12

K-12 outreach is founded in OK-ACTS (Oklahoma Achievement Through Collaboration and Technology Support), a partnership with OETT (Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust) for leadership and technology development which seeks to improve student achievement by connecting, supporting and educating Oklahoma principals and superintendents, providing technology grants and professional development to schools and districts, and creating in-depth content and research in classrooms.

Structure to Build and Sustain Interactive Learning Communities

K20 Center uses four interrelated phases to transform conventional schools into high-achieving, interactive learning communities:

Phase I - Leaders Learning: Develops principals and superintendents to lead systemic change and technology integration in their schools and districts.

Phase II - Whole-School Learning: Supports Phase I leaders by focusing on teachers, parents, and community leaders empowerment in creating technology-rich learning communities designed to enhance student success.

Phase III - Teacher Learning: Creates in-depth authentic research and learning experiences for teachers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Phase IV - Student Engagement: Creates innovative learning strategies, such as Digital Game-Based Learning, to encourage students to be involved in their own learning.

Community

Through local and global partnerships the K20 Center brings together individuals, organizations, and networks committed to educational and community renewal to share ideas, observe best practices, identify and analyze problems, and develop strategies for improved teaching, learning, and community life.

Technology

Industry and technology partnerships bring authentic connections to school and community renewal projects. The research and development partnerships among education, industry, and government in turn create opportunities for science and education technology development, regional economic growth, and sustainable workforce development.
