Linda Atkinson, Ph.D.

Linda Cole Atkinson, Ph.D., has been an educator for over thirty years serving in various roles; i.e., secondary science teacher, site administrator, district curriculum director, and university adjunct professor. During her twenty year tenure as the science curriculum director for a suburban school district, she was involved in all aspects of developing the pre-kindergarten through high school science program working with district and site school leaders, teachers, and the community. Under her leadership, Norman’s inquiry-based science curricula provided learning experiences for students that resulted in achievement gains for students. Linda provided a wide array of professional development, including curriculum alignment, performance and program assessment, technology integration, and systemic change processes. Dr. Atkinson is actively involved in state and national science leadership organizations and has served on state level committees to develop science standards and assessments. She is serving on the National Science Education Leadership Association board. Currently, Dr. Atkinson is Associate Director of K20 Center for K-12 Partnerships. Her research interests are centered on the integration of technology in teaching and learning processes to improve student achievement, especially investigating the use of technology as a tool and its connections to STEM content learning.
