Communication and Development

We invite you to join us in addressing the critical shortage of scientists and engineers in the United States by creating and sustaining interactive learning communities that support a pipeline extending from K-12 to higher education and into industry. These interactive learning communities are designed to motivate and support students as they pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics-related degrees, graduate, and enter the work force.

To accomplish the goal, the K20 Center

  • engages students’ interest at an early age through interdisciplinary, inquiry-based, hands-on approaches that highlight connections and relevance to local and global issues and problems;
  • provides professional development for K-12 and university faculty in science and technology fields to deepen content knowledge, develop innovative pedagogy, and promote high-quality intellectual work in their students;
  • invests in research and development of innovative teaching and learning to revitalize science and technology curricula and pedagogical approaches;
  • ensures support from policymakers and administrators (both K-12 and higher education) to sustain innovative teaching and learning practices; and
  • provides student scholarships and internships in science and technology fields.
